A party is a space for gathering, celebration, and joy. While it lasts, our state of mind changes, as does the way we relate to one another.
We have all experienced it: when a truly festive atmosphere is achieved, we are transformed, if only a little, and share a collective experience of joy and delight. And when it ends, we have changed, if only a little.
This happens because a celebration is a playful moment that frees us, to some extent, from our usual barriers and allows us to join in the collective euphoria that restores our sense of identity. While it lasts, the self-interested and mercantilist social models that prevail in our everyday relationships are suspended, and for a moment we become part of something else: a collective spirit that embraces other values and ways of relating—encounter, joy, generosity, belonging.
That is why we need celebrations to resist the blows of a hostile environment, to remind one another, through lived experience, that we are not alone.
Celebrations are a fundamental space for every community, which is why the party was one of our first manifestos—one that today we want to bring back and remember.
Because we believe that the way we relate to one another when we celebrate can be brought into our everyday lives. Because we believe that every time we come together, it is a new celebration.
That is the revolution we believe in.
This time, the manifesto takes a different form: phrases or statements, each expressing the principles we believe in and that support what we do. For that reason, and in an effort to explain each one a little further, we have decided to publish it in parts, with one article dedicated to each statement.
