Animondo is a place where children and young people discover the art of animation and become creators: they bring objects to life, animate their drawings, and create their own stories. It is much more than a workshop; it is a complete learning experience designed for participating “animanauts” to explore, experiment, become creators, and even build their own filmmaking machines.

This initiative is led by renowned Guadalajara-based animator René Castillo, winner of the Annecy Cristal for Hasta los Huesos (Down to the Bone). Following a successful experience with summer workshops, Animondo is now opening Saturday workshops starting on September 19 for all children ages 6 and up, as well as young people up to age 16.

Animondo is located at the Indie 100 cluster (one block away from Ciudad Creativa Digital), where the courses are taught in separate groups according to age. The space features three areas: construction, where characters and worlds are born; light tables for drawing and animating with sand; and stop motion, where objects come to life.

The experience is designed so that “animanauts” can progress on their journey from first-time explorers to becoming creators, storytellers, directors, and authors.
