ELPAUER Pitch at the Comfama Market

The Comfama Animation Festival Market, taking place this week (March 12–15), experienced one of its highlight moments yesterday with the ELPAUER Pitch activity, where 5 finalist projects were presented.

The full path leading to the project pitch activity began with an open call for animated projects (feature films, short films, or series) formally launched on January 13 (although some preliminary announcements had been made since late December).

As part of the collaboration between Pixelatl and Comfama, and as part of the promotion of the call and training for applicants, we held an online pitch bible workshop with the participation of Los Awesombrosos (you can read a brief review of that workshop here).

Although 164 registrations were received, a filtering process was carried out (not all met the eligibility requirements, although they did participate in the workshop), resulting in 88 valid projects officially registered by the closing date of the call, February 2. These projects were evaluated using a working framework in which Pixelatl also collaborated.

Twelve projects were selected to advance to the second phase and participated in a second workshop, this time focused on Pitch Performance, both to help develop their presentations and to select the finalist projects. Workshop instructors included Carlos Sallas, winner of SecuenciArte 2019 with La canción del Lago, which later became a stop-motion animated short film, and winner of Ideatoon 2021 with San Misterio (currently in pilot production); as well as Ari Galáz and Jorge Peralta (AKA Los calladitos), who received an honorable mention at Ideatoon 2022 for their project Bolla and won Shortway 2025 for their short film Carmín.

Comfama Pitch

The presentations were very exciting. Each project was very different from the others, not only in terms of themes and aesthetics but also in the motivations behind each one and their scope. All demonstrated high quality, with attractive and professional presentations.

The projects received various supports and incentives, ranging from Toon Boom licenses to a BAM Fast Track for the project Papoupi, FlipBook BFM access for La Cháchara, and a Market pass for the Pixelatl Festival awarded to La Chagra.

Congratulations to all the winners!
