Roy & Arturo Ambriz

Directors of Cinema Fantasma and Soy Frankelda | Mexico

Mexican writers, directors, and producers. Both studied for a Bachelor's Degree in Film and Television at the Centro de Diseño, Cine y Televisión. At the same institution, Roy pursued a Master's Degree in Screenwriting, while Arturo earned a Master's Degree in Creative Writing from the University of Salamanca. Together they founded Cinema Fantasma, a stop-motion animation studio based in Mexico City. They wrote and directed the medium-length film Revoltoso; the award-winning series Sustos Ocultos de Frankelda (HBO Max, 2021); and Soy Frankelda (2025), the first stop-motion feature film produced in Mexico. The latter premiered simultaneously at the Guadalajara International Film Festival and the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2025, before becoming a box-office success in Mexico. They also produced the series Women Wearing Shoulder Pads for Adult Swim, the network's first original production created in Latin America. They are currently in pre-production on their next film, La balada del Fénix.
