Cynthia Fernández Trejo

Director and Screenwriter | Mexico


Cynthia Fernández Trejo is a playwright, screenwriter, and film director originally from Mexico City. She holds a degree in French Literature from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Sorbonne Paris IV, and she graduated from the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) in Mexico City. She has worked as a screenwriter on projects for various production companies, including Corazón Films, Campanario, Alazraki Films, and Perro Azul, and has been part of the writing teams for series on platforms like Netflix and Amazon. She was a recipient of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) Youth Creators Grant in the area of screenplay (2015 and 2018) and was also a fellow of the Mexican Foundation for Letters (2019-2021). Cynthia is the author of the book Wunderkammer (2018), as well as the director and screenwriter of the short film Piedra de caballo, which has been selected for various international festivals, and the animated feature film El lenguaje de los pájaros.
