Cynthia Fernández Trejo is a Mexican film director, screenwriter, and playwright. She has written for various international production companies and platforms, including Netflix (Amor de oficina, Contra las cuerdas), Amazon Prime Video (Ptas redes sociales, Cómo sobrevivir soltero, Prefiero la muerte), HBO (Como agua para chocolate), and ViX (Bodas S.A.), among others.

She is the director and screenwriter of the short film Piedra de caballo (2017), which combines animation and live action, produced with support from IMCINE and selected at national and international festivals. In theater, she has written and directed Trece maneras de mirar un glaciar and En el fondo del río. She has received the Jóvenes Creadores program grant from FONCA three times and was a fellow of the Fundación para las Letras Mexicanas.

She is currently directing El lenguaje de los pájaros, her first animated feature film, a project that has participated in international markets such as Ventana Sur and the Marché du Film in Cannes. This project has received support from FOCINE and EFICINE.
