Juan Meza-Leon is a self-taught artist from the port town of Ensenada, Baja CA, Mexico. He began his career at Fox Baja Studios as a production assistant on multiple live action productions. His first professional storyboard work started on productions such as The Expendables for USA Networks and Tremors:The Series for SyFy.

Meza-Leon eventually moved to the United States to pursue a career in animation, beginning as a story artist on several animated shows for Warner Bros. Animation, Nickelodeon, Bento Box, Disney and Hasbro.

While at Nickelodeon he was promoted to Director on Kung Fu Panda followed by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This opened the door for him to work on the Adult Swim hit series, Rick and Morty for three seasons – which also included a series of “Rick and Morty” commercials, the famous “Rick and Morty” couch gag for The Simpsons, as well as the music video Oh, Mama for Run The Jewels. Meza-Leon has also directed episodes during all three seasons of Harley Quinn for HBO Max and the final epic season Final Space.

He is currently working on the animated epic Batman Azteca: Choque de Imperios - an original animated feature-length film that places the iconic DC Super Hero against the backdrop of the captivating history of Mexico and immerse fans around the world in the exciting culture of Mesoamerica. The film is produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Anima Estudios, and Chatrone.
