Miguel Agustín Ramírez Castaños

Illustrator, artist and comic author | Mexico


Graduated from the Bachelor of Design for Graphic Communication at the University of Guadalajara, He studied in the contemporary art workshop of the artist Pablo H. Cobián. His work encompasses comics, illustration, installation, painting, and digital media. The theme of his work focuses on the absurd, mental health, precariousness and pop culture.

His comics and illustrations have been published both national and international print media: Invisible Wall from the Dolor Local collective (Mexico) and Desert Island (Brooklyn); La ilustración punk en México, Glam Glum ediciones (Barcelona); Este País Issue #344 (México); Bienvenido a la Ignorancia Colectiva Culiacán Debate Newspaper (Mexico); El Futuro Publication of the Zapopan Art Museum as part of the Biombo festival (Mexico); Raneban y Javiro 1 y 2, SARA (México); Super Sigilo Soma Publicaciones (Perú), Los niños de las Pleyades Colmillo Workshop (Colombia), Chance JAM – ZINE DAY, OSAKA (Japón); CAZ y FICG Exclusive fanzine in collaboration with the Guadalajara Film Festival and Zapopan's Casa del Autor.

He has been part of the management and organization of different festivals such as the “Zin Futuro Festival” and “Noche de Talentos festival”, both in Guadalajara. He is co-creator, along with the illustrator and comic book artist María Magaña, of the illustration podcast called Baja Resolution, which ran from 2019 to 2021.

In addition, he has participated in group exhibitions of contemporary art in the city of Guadalajara, organized by the curator Yuriko Cortez. He won the artistic residency of the Hotel Fénix (Guadalajara, 2018), the artistic residency of La Mano Gráfica (Tacámbaro Michoacán, 2021), the crossed residency of graphic narrative between La Casa del Autor in Zapopan, Mexico and the Maison des Auteurs in Angouleme, France (2021-2022).

During 2021 his work was part of the U Gallery in Guadalajara and currently his work is part of the Bruna Gallery also in the city of Guadalajara.

He is currently preparing his first solo exhibition and editing his first full-length comic Matador.
