As Director of Feature Animation at Netflix, Tito Ortiz is responsible for driving and supporting the studio’s strategic growth, as well as overseeing an expanding slate of animated films at all stages of development and production.
He is the former Vice President of Development at Illumination Entertainment, where he spent seven years helping build the development department and establishing the company as a leader in global feature animation. Most recently, he spent two years living in Montreal, Canada, where he executive produced the independent animated feature, Playmobil: The Movie, based on the European toy brand of the same name.
Tito has consulted, produced and worked with a broad range of US and international companies including Illumination Entertainment, Tezuka Productions, Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P., ON Animation Studios, Rainmaker Entertainment, Graphic India, The Mark Gordon Company and Fox Atomic.
An accomplished musician and composer, Tito writes and produces music which has been featured on various network and cable TV programs including 99Hard Knocks in Season: The Indianapolis Colts** (HBO), Shameless (Showtime), Lucifer (Fox), NHL Hockey (NBC) and the Gamers’ Choice Awards (CBS).
Born in New York, Tito is a first-generation Latin American of Ecuadorian descent. He moved to Los Angeles in 2003 where he currently lives with his wife. He has worked with Notes for Notes, a non-profit that provides music mentorship to teens in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and has volunteered with The Art of Elysium, a foundation which brings music & art to children in hospitals throughout Los Angeles.
