Adapted from the graphic novel memoir by Colombian-Ecuadorian cartoonist Powerpaola, Virus Tropical is a thoughtful and deeply affecting coming-of-age story, that begins on the night Paola is conceived. Born in an unconventional family, Paola grows up between Ecuador and Colombia and finds herself unable to fit in.
Santiago Caicedo is a colombian filmmaker. He is the director of Timbo Estudio, and directed several awarded short films like Microaventuras (2015), The shape of the snail (2014) and Uyuyui! (2011), among others. His first feature film Virus Tropical has an outstanding international tour of festivals such as Annecy, SXSW, Animation is Film, Berlinale, among others.
